Ticketing and Registration Requirements

Stanford generally does not require ticketing or registration for events. However, if you will be ticketing or charging fees for your event, please use one of the following university-approved services* listed below.  

An approved ticketing or registration service must be used if:

• You are charging a fee for tickets or registration
• You are collecting payment by credit card
• Using a specific venue that requires ticketing
• Security considerations
• Capacity limitations

Approved university ticketing and registration services:

• Cardinal Pay - can be used to collect payments for events, often used together with a form system such as Google Forms or Qualtrics to gather registration information. Free except for credit card processing fees. Get support setting up by submitting a request.
• Cvent* - can be used for free and/or paid events. Managed through University Information Technology (UIT)
• Stanford Live* - for events in Frost Amphitheater & Bing Concert Hall
• Stanford Athletics Ticket Office* - for events in DAPER facilities

All paid events must use a PCI-compliant system that is approved by Stanford and connected to merchant services.

Free Events

If your event does not require payment, you can use any platform to collect registration or RSVP information. Some additional systems used for free events are:

• Google Forms - simple, does not issue tickets
• Qualtrics - does not issue tickets, can handle more complex registration flow
• Eventbrite - simple, can issue tickets
• Cvent - usage fees, can issue tickets, and handle more complex registration flow

Student Events

Student events must use either Stanford EventBrite or Humanitix (through ASSU) for on-campus event tickets, whether free or paid. Learn more about requirements for student events on the Office for Student Engagement website.
