Photography and Video
Whether it is streaming your event live online or sharing images on social media, photographs and video are an important way to share your event with a wider audience. There are also a few things you need to keep in mind when organizing these tasks.
Film, Photography and Video Requests
Stanford is a private university and its campus is private property. Filming, photography, and video recording on Stanford-owned lands, including the Redwood City campus and open space areas such as The Dish, are restricted. Most filming and photography require advance permission. The university reserves the right to refuse or revoke permission to film or photograph on Stanford-owned lands for any reason.
Stanford also places a high priority on the privacy of its students, faculty, and staff, as well as minimizing disruptions to the university’s teaching and research mission. Notwithstanding these limits, persons in areas on campus broadly accessible to the public should understand that they are generally subject to photographs and video recordings.

Releases
If your event will have a speaker or presenter, you will also need to have them sign a release giving Stanford permission to record their presentation.
There is also a photo release for those who are not speakers, but who will be subjects of photos.

You may also consider posting a sign at your venue notifying guests that the event will be photographed and/or filmed. You may also add consent to use attendee’s images and likeness is a condition of entry.
Example: Please be advised that this event will be filmed and official photographs may be taken for posting on the Stanford website and may be used in other university publications. By entering this event venue, you consent to Stanford University using your image and likeness.
